Ohio State and Purdue Athletes Win Weekly Track and Field Awards

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Jordan Jennewine, Ohio State
So., Dayton, Ohio / Carroll

Jennewine took home top individual honors in the 1,500-meter run of the Class A division this past Saturday at the Raleigh Relays.  Her time of 4:26.65 exceeded the regional qualifying standard and set a new personal best.  The Dayton, Ohio, native collects her first Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week award.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Kara Patterson, Purdue
Sr., LaCenter, Wash. / Skyview

Patterson kicked off her senior outdoor track and field season with a new meet record in the javelin toss, hitting a distance of 191-08 (58.41m.) at the Arizona State Invitational this past weekend.  Her first-place mark shattered the regional qualifying standard by nearly 15 meters and was only an inch shy of her U.S. Olympic Trials record which she set last summer.  The senior takes home her fourth career weekly laurel.
