WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Yvonne Mensah, Illinois
JR, Surrey, B.C./Little Flower Academy

Mensah has been named Athlete of the Week after recording four NCAA regional qualifying marks at the Sea-Ray Relays last weekend. She began the four-day competition with a first-place finish in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 42'05 1/2" (12.94 meters). The junior went on to finish fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.40, .35 seconds faster than the regional qualifying standard. Mensah wrapped up her performance by helping the Illini 4x400- and 4x100-meter relay squads qualify for the NCAA Championships as they finished in 3:35.80 and 45.44, respectively.
