WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD CO-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Jenna Harris, Ohio State
JR, Somerset, N.J./Franklin
Harris has been named Co-Athlete of the Week after recording two NCAA regional qualifying times at the Oregon Invite last weekend. She swept the sprint races, finishing first in both the 100- and 200-meter events. In the 100 meters, the junior clocked in at 11.72 while recording a time of 23.73 in the 200-meter dash. This is the first outdoor weekly honor of the Somerset, N.J., native's career. She is the first Buckeye to garner outdoor weekly honors since Shelaine Larson claimed the accolade on March 28, 2005.
Jennifer Leatherman, Penn State
SR, Yellville, Ark./Rolla
Leatherman earns her third weekly honor of the 2006 season as she tallied NCAA regional qualifying marks in two field events at the Nittany Lion Relays last weekend. The senior All-American finished first in the shot put with a toss of 48'10 3/4" (14.90 meters). She went on to capture the hammer throw title, destroying the regional qualifying standard of 54.14 meters, with a distance 191'11" (58.49 meters). The Yellville, Ark., native, who was also named Athlete of the Week twice this year during the indoor season, has now garnered weekly accolades seven times throughout her career (indoor and outdoor combined).
