Parker garners Athlete of the Week laurels after she broke her own school record and regionally qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Drake Relays over the weekend. The fifth-year senior clocked in at 10:24.25 to finish in first and shaved over nine seconds off the school record she set at the 2003 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Parker also helped the Wolverines defend their 1,600-meter relay title as the squad finished in a time of 19:19.07, more than 20 seconds faster than the runner-up.
This is the first weekly award of Parker's career.
