Indiana and Minnesota Student-Athletes Garner Final Track and Field Weekly Accolades

The conference office announced on Wednesday the weekly women's outdoor track and field awards. Indiana's Jordan Gray was recognized as Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, while Minnesota's Samantha Sonnenberg garnered Field Athlete of the Week accolades. Track Athlete of the Week: Indiana earns its first weekly track award of the season after Jordan Gray helped the 4x400 relay team to a first-place finish while taking second herself last weekend at the Billy Hayes Invitational. Gray ran the third leg of the relay, helping Indiana to the win in 3:41.84. With Gray, the Hoosiers' has won five straight during the outdoor season. The junior won the women's collegiate title in the 800, finishing in 2:07.00. The time is 10th in program history and third in the Big Ten this season. Last Indiana Track Athlete of the Week: Sarah Pease (April 28, 2010) Field Athlete of the Week: Minnesota's Samantha Sonnenberg earned a first-place finish in the pole vault over the weekend at the Tommie Twilight Invitational. Sonnenberg cleared a height of 14-3.25 to equal the school record set in 2009. The senior's height is tied for the fourth-best vault in the nation this season and currently leads the Big Ten in the event. This marks the first weekly field award for the Golden Gophers this year.
