Minnesota Headed To The NCAA National Semifinals, Nittany Lions Fall To Gators
Dec. 14, 2003
MINNESOTA PUNCHES TICKET TO NATIONAL SEMIFINALS It took five exciting games to decide the match between No. 13 Minnesota and No. 12 Washington. The Huskies took the opening game 30-19, before Minnesota game back to win the next two, 32-30 and 33-31. Washington tied the match at two, winning the fourth game 30-27. But Minnesota prevailed in the fifth and final game, 15-9. "This was one of our best games all season," said Minnesota head coach Mike Hebert. "We were well disciplined. The difference was the ability to block and defend. Twenty-one blocks in a five-game match is a big reason we were able to win. It was a tough match for anyone to lose, but we are excited to be going to Dallas. This win is a big feather in our cap for this program." The Gophers now advance to the program's first ever NCAA Volleyball National Semifinals where they will take on undefeated USC on Thursday, December 18th, in Dallas, Texas.
