2012 Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Award Nominee - Purdue's Ariel Turner

Ariel Turner is Purdue's nominee for the Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year award.

Through Monday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference’s Jesse Owens Male and Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced live on BTN’s season-ending awards show on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Ariel Turner – Purdue – Volleyball
Turner was named Big Ten Player of the Year after leading the Boilermakers to a 29-5 overall mark and a 16-4 record in Big Ten play, both bests for the program since 1985. The junior earned first team All-America honors from the AVCA and Volleyball Magazine, second team Academic All-America laurels from CoSIDA and Big Ten Player of the Week a record-tying five times. She ranked in the top six nationally in both kills per set (4.84) and points per set (5.46), while leading the Big Ten in both categories. Click HERE for more information on Ariel.
