Park Ridge, Ill. -
Big Ten volleyball will see extensive coverage of the 2013 season, with more than 70 matches set to air on BTN, BTN2Go and the Big Ten Digital Network (BTDN), with additional matches on ESPN2. Each BTN and BTDN broadcast will also be available on BTN2Go.
BTN coverage will feature a match on most Wednesday and Friday evenings through the beginning of November and begins Wednesday, Sept. 25 when Indiana visits Minnesota. Michigan will face Ohio State on Friday, Sept. 27, followed by a doubleheader featuring Nebraska at Illinois and Michigan at defending Big Ten Champion Penn State on Saturday, Sept. 28. Built into the schedule are two wildcard dates in November, allowing BTN to select the most appealing matchups as teams face off for the Big Ten title. Every Big Ten volleyball program will appear on BTN at least twice during the regular season.
Additionally, ESPN2 will televise three Big Ten contests this season, including Penn State at Indiana on Thursday, Oct. 3, and Michigan State at Minnesota on Thursday, Oct. 17. Penn State will also host Ohio State on Wednesday, Oct. 23, a match that will be carried live on ESPN3 and will air on tape delay on ESPN2 on Thursday, Oct. 24.
Last season the Big Ten sent seven teams to the NCAA Tournament, with three squads earning top-16 seeds and Michigan and Penn State advancing to the national semifinals. The Big Ten leads the country with seven teams ranked in the preseason AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, including No. 2 Penn State, No. 6 Minnesota, No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Nebraska, No. 14 Michigan State, No. 16 Purdue and No. 23 Ohio State.
Attached above is the schedule of matches that will air on BTN, BTN2Go and ESPN2. Additional matches will be scheduled during the season for delayed broadcast as part BTN’s Student U initiative.
