PARK RIDGE, Ill. - In addition to the three nationally televised contests released in July, the Big Ten Conference office announced today that 12 additional women's volleyball matches have been selected for regional coverage on College Sports TV (CSTV) and Comcast SportsNet Chicago (CSN Chicago). A total of 15 matches, which will feature each conference school in action at least once, will be televised during the 2005 season.

Big Ten volleyball fans will be given the opportunity to see two-time defending conference champion and preseason favorite Penn State in the AVCA/NACWAA College Volleyball Showcase on CSTV, August 26-27. The fifth-ranked Nittany Lions will battle No. 3 Stanford on the 26th and then face either No. 1 Nebraska or No. 4 Hawaii on the 27th. CSTV, which will air all contests live, will also show UCLA at Wisconsin on September 18 and Ohio State at Penn State on November 2.

Comcast SportsNet Chicago will begin its coverage of Big Ten volleyball with an eight-match schedule on a tape-delay basis. The slate opens with Purdue at Ohio State on Friday, September 23 (to be broadcast on September 25), followed by Northwestern at Illinois on September 30 (October 1). CSN Chicago will continue its coverage with the Penn State at Wisconsin match to be played October 8 and broadcast the next day.

ESPN2 will air a conference doubleheader beginning on Sunday, October 16, featuring the Michigan at Penn State match from October 14 and the Minnesota at Illinois contest on October 15. It will conclude its regular season coverage of Big Ten volleyball on Sunday, October 30 when it airs Wisconsin at Ohio State from the 29th.

Big Ten volleyball on Comcast SportsNet returns to the airwaves October 22 with the October 21st battle of Ohio State at Minnesota - two teams that tied for second in the league last year. It will then broadcast each of the four weeks of November, concluding with a "Wildcard" broadcast on either Friday or Saturday, November 25-26, featuring teams to be determined.

For more than a decade, the Big Ten has been a leader in collegiate volleyball television exposure. The conference enters its 11th-consecutive year of partnership with ESPN2 in which at least three matches will be broadcast.

Contact your local cable provider to learn more about Comcast SportsNet Chicago and CSTV as both are offered on a variety of extended television packages.
