• All 14 Big Ten programs are in action this weekend with Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio State hosting tournaments. Conference teams will take on a trio of ranked opponents.

• Eight Big Ten programs earned spots in the latest AVCA coaches poll, with three teams ranked among the top 10: No. 2 Minnesota, No. 5 Penn State, No. 6 Wisconsin, No. 12 Nebraska, No. 19 Michigan, No. 20 Ohio State, No. 21 Purdue and No. 23 Michigan State.

• The Big Ten volleyball television package features 36 contests, with 31 of those matches airing live on BTN, and highlighted by 10 doubleheaders. Five other matches will be carried live on ESPN network, including a Sept. 24 doubleheader on ESPN when Michigan State visits Minnesota (1 p.m. ET) and Michigan travels to Wisconsin (3 p.m. ET).

• Penn State posted a .469 team hitting percentage during the opening weekend of play, which currently leads the country. Purdue ranks third with a hitting percentage of .368.

• Minnesota freshman Stephanie Samedy earned Big Ten Co-Player and Co-Freshman of the Week honors after averaging 4.43 kills and 3.86 digs per set with two double-doubles and a .315 hitting percentage in her college debut last weekend, helping No. 4 Minnesota defeat No. 11 North Carolina and Louisville.

• Wisconsin freshman Dana Rettke, who currently ranks third second in the nation with a .619 hitting percentage, earned Big Ten Co-Player and Co-Freshman of the Week honors after opening her college career averaging 5.0 kills and 1.8 blocks per set to help the Badgers sweep Louisville and No. 11 North Carolina.

• Wisconsin freshman Sydney Hilley claimed Big Ten Setter of the Week honors by averaging 13.17 assists and 2.33 digs per set with an .889 hitting percentage while guiding No. 7 Wisconsin to 3-0 wins at home. The freshman collected her first career double-double against North Carolina with 43 assists and 11 digs.

• Illinois' Ali Bastianelli, who currently leads the country in blocks per set (2.50), was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 2.7 kills and 2.5 blocks per set with a .558 hitting percentage to pace Illinois to the title at the season-opening Bobcat Classic.
