Nittany Lions Sweep Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Salyer reached double-digit kills and hit higher than .460 in both matches last week as the No. 3 Nittany Lions remained unbeaten in the Big Ten. Against No. 11 Wisconsin on Friday night, Salyer tied her season-high with 17 kills on .467 hitting and fell one block shy of her season high with five stuffs. The following night versus Northwestern, she led the team with 10 kills on .471 hitting and was four players to record at least two blocks. For the weekend, Salyer averaged 3.86 kills per game on a team-high .468 hitting with 1.00 blocks per game. Last PSU POW: Christa Harmotto (10/10/05) DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Walters again led Penn State defensively both nights as the Nittany Lions defeated both Wisconsin and Northwestern to remain undefeated in the Big Ten. Against the No. 11 Badgers on Friday night, Walters racked up 26 digs, two shy of her own four-game record, and recorded only one reception error in 33 attempts to pass at a .971 clip. She helped the team hit .247 against the top blocking team in the conference as well. The following night versus the Wildcats, Walters again led all players in digs with 20, including 12 in the first game alone, and was perfect on all 12 of her passing attempts. For the weekend, Walters produced an average of 6.57 digs per game as the team hit .256. This is Walters' fourth Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and her career.
