Big Ten and Comcast Announce Volleyball Wildcard Selection

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The Purdue at Minnesota volleyball match to be played on Saturday, Nov. 26, will be televised by Comcast SportsNet Chicago as the wildcard selection, it was announced by league officials today. The match will be the 11th and final regular season televised conference volleyball match of the season. No. 19 Minnesota is currently tied for second in the Big Ten at 11-5 and is 21-6 overall. Purdue, which is ranked 18th in the nation, is in the home stretch of its best season in 15 years. The Boilermakers are fourth in the conference at 10-6 and 21-6 overall, marking their highest output of wins since 1990. Purdue has also defeated a pair of top 10 teams this year for the first time since 1985. The atmosphere is expected to be electric as Minnesota currently ranks third in the nation in average attendance. The Golden Gophers have welcomed in nearly 48,000 fans over 12 matches this season for an average attendance of 3,968. On Oct. 29, Minnesota hosted Indiana in front of 9,761 spectators, which ranks fifth among single-match attendance totals this year and first outside the four NACWAA Showcase matches that took place earlier this season. First serve of the Nov. 26th match is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. The match will air on a tape-delay basis on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 12 p.m. CT.
