Penn State Clinches Big Ten Championship




Penn State clinched its ninth Big Ten Championship in the last 10 years and 15th overall after a 3-0 win at Indiana on Friday. Coupled with their win against the Hoosiers, the Nittany Lions earned the outright title after Minnesota knocked off Nebraska on Friday night. Penn State, 16-1 in Big Ten play, also claimed the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.

The Nittany Lions won by a score of 25-12 in the first set, following with a 25-18 win in Set 2 and a 25-22 victory to clinch the match in the third set. Ariel Scott led the Nittany Lions with 12 kills, while Dominique Gonzalez and Micha Hancock each notched eight digs to lead the team.

The final matches of the 2012 regular season will be held next weekend, with the 2012 NCAA Championship field set to be announced on Sunday, Nov. 25. The 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship selection show is scheduled to air at 4 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
