Simpson guided Wisconsin to three sweeps last week with wins over Ohio State, Iowa and Minnesota. The senior led the Badgers to a combined .302 hitting percentage over the three matches and helped six players average 2.0 or more kills per game. Simpson also contributed seven kills, two service aces, six blocks and 10 digs on the week to help the Badgers finish second in the Big Ten standings. On the weekend, the 6-0 setter averaged 12.9 assists with a .300 hitting percentage, 0.7 blocks and 1.1 digs per game. The award is the third of Simpson's career. She last earned it on Oct. 30, 2006, when she was also named the AVCA's National Player of the Week.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jessica Hohl, Michigan State
Sr., OH, Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne
Hohl led the Spartans on defense as they defeated Purdue and Indiana over the weekend, helping secure Michigan State's spot in the 2007 NCAA Volleyball Championship. The senior averaged 2.3 blocks per game, including a career-high eight stuffs against the Hoosiers on Saturday, holding IU to a .139 hitting average. Hohl also contributed 1.2 digs per game and was perfect on service receptions. The award is the first of Hohl's career.
