Penn State's Fawcett and Purdue's Dargan Earn Final POW Honors of 2005

Nicole Fawcett, Penn State Fawcett aided the Nittany Lions in closing out the Big Ten schedule with a perfect 20-0 record with three-game sweeps at Michigan State and Michigan. The freshman pounded 17 kills on .394 hitting with five digs and four blocks Friday night against the Spartans. The four blocks were just one shy of her career best. The following night, Fawcett was one of five players to hit above .315, attacking at a .423 clip with a team-high 15 kills, while adding six digs as well. For the weekend, Fawcett averaged 5.33 kills per game on .407 hitting with 1.83 digs and 0.67 blocks per game. This is Fawcett's third POW award of her young career. LAST PSU POW: Nicole Fawcett (11/14/05) Renata Dargan, Purdue Dargan was a quadruple threat for the Boilermakers against Iowa this past week, just missing a triple double with nine kills, 52 assists and 15 digs, while also chalking up six blocks. The Purdue senior setter continued her success against Minnesota with another all-around performance of eight kills, 10 digs and 47 assists. The two matches marked her seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season. On the weekend, Dargan averaged 12.38 assists, 3.25 digs, 2.12 kills and 1.12 blocks per game. She also moved into fifth on the Purdue career block assists list (312), while recording 600th career kill as well. This is Dargan's third weekly award of the season, but first Defensive Player of the week award. Dargan was tabbed Player of the Week on Sept. 5 and Sept. 12.
