Columbia, Mo.--Taking a 3-1 victory over Illinois, the Louisville Cardinals advance to the second round of the 2004 NCAA Volleyball Tournament. Keeping the game close, Louisville counted 69 kills and 24 blocks while Illinois recorded 65 kills and 14 blocks.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The seventh-ranked Ohio State women's volleyball team swept Dayton, 3-0 (30-25, 32-20, 30-22), Friday night in an NCAA Championship first round-match in St. John Arena. The Buckeyes (28-3) advance to a second-round match in St. John Arena at 7 p.m. Saturday against Ohio University (29-2), which defeated Pittsburgh, 3-0, in the first match of the evening.

MADISON, Wisc. -- The Wisconsin volleyball team swept Loyola (Ill.) 30-27, 30-26, 30-25 Friday night at the UW Field House in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Badgers advance to the second round of the Big Dance with a 20-9 overall record while the Ramblers end their season at 21-9.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Michigan volleyball team earned a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 31-29, 24-30, 30-23, 30-20 victory over Rice on Friday afternoon at The University of Texas' Gregory Gym in the tournament's first round. Freshman Katie Bruzdzinski had a match-high 24 kills for the Wolverines and senior Jennifer Gandolph added 17 as UM earned the victory.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The third-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team (28-2) downed American (23-7) in three games (30-18, 30-18, 35-33) to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Nittany Lions will play Maryland on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7:00 p.m. for the right to advance to the NCAA Regional Semifinal match hosted by the University of Washington.
