Penn State volleyball head coach Russ Rose was named the Division I National Coach of the Year, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Thursday.

The award is the third of Rose's career, as he was also recognized in 1997 and 1999. The honor is the fourth in Big Ten history as Michigan State's Chuck Erbe was named the AVCA Coach of the Year in 1995.
