Penn State to Play for NCAA Title on Saturday

The top-ranked Penn State volleyball team earned its second straight trip to the title match of the 2008 NCAA Volleyball Championship with a 3-2 (25-17, 25-18, 15-25, 22-25, 15-11) win over Nebraska at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb., on Thursday. The Nittany Lions advance to face second-seeded Stanford in the NCAA Final on Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT. The match will be televised live on ESPN2. Saturday’s match marks the first time in the history of NCAA Championship volleyball that the same two teams are scheduled to meet in back-to-back title matches. Penn State defeated Stanford, 3-2, in last year's final. Penn State senior Nicole Fawcett set a season-high with 24 kills to lead the team, while junior Megan Hodge posted a season high of her own with 23 hits. As a team, the Nittany Lions attacked at a .305 clip on the strength of a season-high 60 assists from Alisha Glass and a season-high 22 digs from Roberta Holehouse.
