Iowa, Penn State Receive First Women's Cross Country Weekly Honors of 2010

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Iowa's Lauren Hardesty and Penn State's Caitlin Lane earned Big Ten Co-Runner of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Hardesty and Lane each took first place in their respective meets while helping their teams to first-place finishes.

Iowa senior Lauren Hardesty earns her first career Big Ten Runner of the Week honor after turning in a 3,000-meter time of 10:21 at the Hawkeye Invitational on Friday, good for first place. Hardesty led the 29th-ranked Hawkeyes to the team title on their home course. The career-best performance places her in a tie for the fourth-best 3K time in Iowa history.

After winning her third straight Lock Haven Dolan Duals on Friday, Penn State junior Caitlin Lane takes home the second Big Ten Runner of the Week award of her career. Lane crossed the tape 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the field, finishing the 4,000-meter race in 14:02. The junior paced the No. 24 Nittany Lions, who earned the top seven spots in the results.
