The Big Ten Conference has announced its women's cross country Runner of the Week, with the honors going to Michigan State sophomore Kristen Smith.

Michigan State's Kristen Smith earns Runner of the Week status after finishing fifth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships on Friday, leading the 18th-ranked Spartans to third place. Smith completed the 5-kilometer course in 18:17, more than a minute better than her previous career-best time. With the top-five finish, the sophomore also earned All-Michigan honors.
