ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten will be well-represented at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, as six women’s teams and three men’s squads are set to compete. Six individual participants from Big Ten schools will also race in the championships, which will be held at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
The eighth-ranked Michigan women’s cross country team will be making its 12th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance. No. 14 Michigan State will appear in its 15th championship race, while No. 16 Minnesota will compete in its 17th NCAA Championship. The 22nd-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions will make their fifth consecutive trip to the championships, while No. 28 Wisconsin will compete for the first time since 2011. Indiana is making its first appearance since 2009.
Illinois’ Alyssa Schneider and Ohio State’s Katie Borchers will travel to the women’s championships as individuals.
The Michigan men’s team heads into the NCAA Championships ranked No. 13 and will make its 29th appearance in the event. No. 17 Wisconsin will make its 42nd consecutive trip after placing second at last year’s championships, while No. 20 Indiana will compete for the fourth consecutive time.
Illinois’ Jannis Toepfer, Michigan State’s Caleb Rhynard, Penn State’s Matt Fischer and Purdue’s Matthew McClintock will race in the men’s championships as individuals.
The men’s 10K race will begin at Noon ET, followed by the women’s 6K race at approximately 1:15 p.m. ET.
