Nothing is more exciting than an up-and-coming contender. Over the weekend, Indiana pulled off another upset, Maryland built on its historic start, and Northwestern and Iowa tallied early Big Ten wins. Take a look. 

Indiana’s Back at It 

No. 18 Indiana brought home another ranked win on Saturday, edging No. 13 Michigan 1-0 at Deborah Tobias Field to move to 6-3 (2-0 B1G) on the season. Theresa Ricci served as the difference-maker, capitalizing on a third-quarter penalty corner to snap the scoreless deadlock, with Molly Stutte lending the assist.

Goalkeeper Sadie Canelli made the lead stick, turning away four Michigan chances to preserve her third shutout of the season. Indiana entered the rankings for the first time this season last week after splitting a series with then-No. 2 Iowa and looks more like a title contender with every game. Read more from IU. 

Maryland’s Top-10 East Coast Clash 

No. 2 Maryland heads to No. 8 Princeton for a top-10 midweek showdown on Tuesday. The Terrapins arrive red-hot, riding a perfect 9-0 start fueled by a stingy defense that's allowed just four goals all season (their fewest through nine games since 2003) and a balanced attack that's seen 12 different players find the back of the cage.  

Standing in their way is a Princeton squad looking to rebound from back-to-back shootout losses. Maryland will be chasing history in more ways than one — not only extending its unbeaten start, but also hunting its first win over the Tigers since 2021. Tune in on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN+. 

Weekend Scoreboard 

• No. 2 Maryland’s last win came on Friday over Rutgers, when Djuna Eikelboom buried her first and second goals of the season en route to a 3-0 victory. 

• No. 1 Northwestern showed no sign of slowing down in a 6-0 triumph over Michigan State in its conference opener. Juliana Boon surpassed 100 career saves, recording five in the win. 

• No. 5 Iowa won both the conference and non-conference contests against Ohio State over the weekend. The Hawkeyes outscored the Buckeyes 6-1 in the second half across both games to close out the victories. Get Iowa’s latest.
