ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Field Hockey Offensive Player, Co-Defensive Players and Freshman of the Week awards for games played September 25-27.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Fréderique van Cleef, Iowa
5th – F – Asten, Netherlands – Varendonck College

• Led the Big Ten in goals (3) and points (7) on the weekend, helping No. 5-ranked Iowa to a sweep of Ohio State
• Scored twice in Iowa’s 4-1 conference win on Friday and followed with the game-winning goal on Sunday
• Finished with a .500 shooting percentage and a .667 shot-on-goal percentage
• Has scored goals in eight of 10 games and leads the country with 14 tallies on the season
• The 2025 All-Big Ten performer earns her third offensive weekly award this year

Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Sadie Canelli, Indiana
Jr. – G – Boxford, Mass. – Pingree School

• Made four saves in helping No. 18-ranked Indiana to a 1-0 shutout of No. 13 Michigan
• Turned away five penalty corners as Indiana recorded its first win against Michigan in Bloomington since 2008
• Her effort in the cage resulted in the Hoosiers’ sixth win in seven games
• Canelli has now won a weekly defensive player award in each of her three seasons
• Becomes first Indiana player this season to win a Big Ten weekly honor

Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Ilse Tromp, Northwestern
Sr. – B/M – Rotterdam, Netherlands – Laurens Lyceum Rotterdam

• Playing on the back line, recorded her second multiple-goal game of the season (and the ninth of her career) in Northwestern’s conference opening win over Michigan State
• Finished with eight shots, two more than the Spartans’ team total
• Contributed to the top-ranked Wildcats’ seventh shutout of the season while recording her team-leading eighth goal
• Moved into a tied for 11th-place on Northwestern’s all-time points list
• Collects her third career Big Ten weekly award (2-defensive, 1-offensive)

Freshman of the Week
Julia Claessens, Iowa
Fr. – G – 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands – Rodenborch College

• Earning her second and third starts of the season, Claessens played all 120 minutes in cage during Iowa’s weekend sweep of Ohio State
• Made 13 saves on 16 shots for an .813 save percentage and a 1.50 goals-against average
• Turned away nine shots in Sunday’s 3-2 nonconference win
• Improved to 2-0-0 as Iowa posted its fourth come-from-behind win of the season
• Becomes first Hawkeye named Freshman of the Week since September 8, 2025
